OUR VISION
Campesinos Sin Fronteras (CSF) is a grassroots community-based organization founded in 1999 with the mission of building capacity, educating, advocating for, and supporting farmworkers, new immigrants, and low- to moderate-income individuals to improve their quality of life.

CSF’s efforts are primarily focused on the border communities of Yuma County, Arizona (Yuma, Somerton, and San Luis), where Latinos represent 95 percent of the population. Since 1999, CSF has been able to build strong, cross-sector networks to share knowledge and organize low-wage workers—particularly farmworkers—and their families to advocate for policy changes that create positive change and to educate the community about political issues that affect residents throughout the region.

Forming a collective voice for farmworkers has been challenging due to the nature of agricultural work, which often takes place in rural and isolated areas that are difficult to access. To address this challenge, CSF has worked for years to develop a non-commercial educational FM radio station that empowers workers by bringing information directly to farmworkers and their families through an FM station dedicated to improving their quality of life.
It is the first and only station of its kind in Southern Arizona. CSF received an FCC license for a non-commercial educational (NCE) FM station, KYMZ, broadcasting at 99.9 MHz. Once on the air, KYMZ will be the third-strongest FM signal originating from Yuma County. Its local coverage area includes Yuma County, Arizona; the Imperial Valley in California; and the entire metropolitan area of San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora, Mexico. The signal also reaches, at a somewhat weaker but still listenable level, communities in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico.
It is estimated that the station has the potential to reach more than 1.4 million people.
